NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 13 – After hosting a successful Magical Kenya Ladies Open in Vipingo, Cabinet Secretary for Youth, Empowerment and Sports, Ababu Namwamba wants the country’s biggest golfing events to present a stronger Kenyan flavor.

Having witnessed all the five Kenyans fail to make the cut, Namwamba explained that the only way to achieve this goal is to have more Kenyans compete at elite level.

The country hosts the DP World Tour Magical Kenya Open and the Ladies European Tour (LET) Magical Kenya Ladies Open (MKLO) in the first quarter of the season.

“it’s something Kenyans are already doing in other sports.

We are doing it in rugby, and we should do the same in golf. We have seen some events without a strong Kenyan presence, so we want to derive support to the whole ecosystem,” Ababu told Capital Sport.
