Most of the world was horrified when Russia invaded Ukraine. But our reactions were nothing compared to what Ukrainian-American pianist Nadia Shpachenko felt as she watched helplessly from the United States as bombs fell on her homeland—including family and friends living in Kharkiv.

Prayers and hopes were not enough. Shpachenko channeled her anger, grief, and fear into actions benefitting Ukrainians affected by the war, and she did so using the language of music, performing fundraising concerts and working non-stop to release this recording, Invasion: Music and Art for Ukraine.

Featuring the music of Pulitzer prize winning composer Lewis Spratlan, artwork Shapachenko commissioned from Ukrainian artists, and with the generous cooperation of Reference Recordings, all the proceeds from Invasion go to benefit Ukrainians affected by the war.
